UP PARTICIPATED IN THE ROUND TABLE: SCIENCE AND INNOVATION AS GUARANTEES OF ECONOMIC GROWTH (VIDEO)
On 20 June 2022, the Jožef Stefan Institute organized a round table entitled Science and Innovation as Guarantees of Economic Growth.
Among the guests was the rector of the University of Primorska Prof. dr. Klavdija Kutnar, who joined the other guests at the table, namely the Minister of Education, Science and Sport dr. Igor Papič, rector of universities - Prof. dr. Gregor Majdič (UL), Prof. dr. Zdravko Kavčič (UM) and Prof. dr. Boštjan Golob (UNG) and the directors of the institute, Prof. dr. Gregor Anderluh, Prof. dr. Maja Ravnikar and Prof. dr. Boštjan Zalar. The round table was also attended by a representative of the economy, the director of Cosylab dr. Marko Pleško.
In the discussion, the guests emphasized the directions of development outlined by the new government, the need for investment in knowledge, new technologies, digitalization, new models of cooperation, etc., coexistence and cooperation of generational and social structures and the field of evaluation and understanding of science and subsystem, which made huge strides during the new industrial revolution.
Minister of Education, Science and Sport dr. Igor Papič pointed out that the planned separation of the ministry changes the importance of innovation while increasing funding: "A more optimistic forecast of funding for science does not in itself guarantee development, our main goal must be to change the paradigm of our society element of both economic and development in general." Participants agreed that Slovenia does not lack much to succeed: "With the vision and principle of cooperation, we must lead the way to our better future."
