Research focuses on the study of biodiversity and its sustainable use. The priority geographical areas of research are Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, covering the following areas: classical taxonomy, morphometry, molecular ecology, population monitoring, ecosystem research and co-evolution in ecological systems.
In the field of environmental protection, research focuses primarily on the assessment of environmental impacts and their reduction, both in the field of air, water monitoring and the introduction of systemic solutions for reducing environmental impacts as well as sustainable use of wood.
The field of air and port pollution deals with air and environmental pollution in terms of its impact on the health of people and other living things. To this end, a system for the comprehensive presentation of meteorological and air pollution data (TARU) has been developed.
