Linguistic and literary studies
Research in the field of linguistics focuses on Slovenian and Italian linguistic conditions in the North Adriatic region, which represents a linguistically complex region and a cultural meeting point between Central Europe and the Mediterranean. This space is considered in terms of theoretical and applied linguistics as well as literary theory and literary history. Diachronic aspects are primarily taken into account in the study of interference dialect phenomena in the context of dialectological and etymological research, and synchronous aspects in sociolinguistic research in the fields of language policy, Slovene and Italian in public use, professional languages and language technologies, research in the teaching of Slovenian and Italian, and multilingualism as the social and cultural values of the European space. Research activities include the fields of dialectology, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, terminology, vocabulary (intonation), communication sciences, glotodidactics and maternal teaching, and cultural studies. The research leaders are assigned to each project.
