Student ID
The student card with a valid sticker for the current academic year is the basic document with which the student demonstrates his status and asserts his rights, and also allows entry to the UP premises and library. Students collect their student cards and stickers from their faculty office.
From the 2022/2023 academic year onwards, an electronic student card is also available to UP students. Students download it to their mobile phone via the Studo application.
To register for the application, use the enrolment number, and the password is the same as for VIS/ŠIS.
From the academic year 2022/2023, we are introducing a more modern and green approach to communication with students. In line with the steps of the GDI UP project - Green, Digital, Inclusive UP, we are introducing the STUDO app for unified communication of all university information.
The application is free of charge and is designed for all UP students. Provides quick and easy access to all key information needed for studying at the University of Primorska, combining in one application the information available on VIS/ŠIS, Moodle, and Office 365, so that students can view their timetable, email, grades, calendar, VIS/ŠIS, news, and curriculum, check the student food offer, read news from the University and all its faculties, access the e-classroom and materials, and chat with other students in a forum format.
This does not change the way students communicate with staff, both teaching, and non-teaching. Official communication remains with them is via student e-mail.
Username and password
All students enrolling at the chosen UP Faculty will receive a username that is identical to your enrolment number and a password that is valid for all the services listed below. In addition to your normal username, which is used for all the services offered by the college/university, you also get a username with the @student.upr.si domain appended to it (if your username was 1234567, your Eduroam username would be 1234567@student.upr.si), which you can use to access services in the AAI federation, the Eduroam wireless network and Office 365.
Password changes
You can change your password via your faculty's VIS/ ŠIS, in the "my data" passwords section. Password changes will be visible in other services within one hour.
Forgotten password
Forgotten passwords can be retrieved by visiting the faculty's student affair office. You must bring your student card or another document that can prove your identity.
ŠIS – Student Information System
Student Information System - SIS is the basic tool of all UP students, which allows them access to the index, faculty notifications, exam applications and other content and tools necessary for the course of study.
Students access SIS with a username (registration number) and password via their faculty's website.
The same username/password can be used for the e-classroom, wi-fi network as well as to log in to the faculty’s computers
Your index is available in electronic form within SIS. Your Transcript of Records is issued by the Student Office and your Certificate of Enrolment can be found within SIS and printed out.
Each faculty has its own separate VIS application, a list of which is published at the following link: https://vis.upr.si/
All students of the University of Primorska in VIS have been assigned a university student e-mail address, which students are obliged to use for all communication with the faculty/university. Each student will therefore have an address enrolmentnumber@student.upr.si, which will be used for communication with the student office, assistants and professors and other university staff.
It is the students' duty to check their university student address regularly, as they will receive all communications related to their studies and extra-curricular activities at this address. Students are required to sign their name to each e-mail.
Students receive their emails free of charge using Office 365, which includes Outlook for email management. Office 365 is described in the 'Office 365 products' section and Outlook can be accessed at the following link: https://outlook.office365.com
Office 365 services
Office 365 includes a selection of Microsoft applications such as Outlook (email), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Microsoft Teams and some other Microsoft products(!). You can use Microsoft applications online at https://www.office.com/ or download and install them on your computer for FREE. A user can install Office on up to five computers with his/her licence.
A detailed description of the services offered by Microsoft's A3 license is available at: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/academic/compare-office-365-education-plans
E-classroom
Each faculty uses Moodle as its online e-classroom. In the e-classroom, each course has its own space, which is managed by the course providers.
Each course page allows course providers to upload files, open quizzes, open homework submissions and a forum for course announcements and communication between students and course providers.
By default, students can log in to any course. If the instructor has locked his/her course with a password, you need to contact him/her.
ZOOM
Lectures and other meetings that will not be held in person will be delivered via the ZOOM app, which can be downloaded here: https://zoom.us
Important: To use ZOOM, please register with your university email. By doing so, you automatically obtain a ZOOM licence.
Remote access to articles
https://remote.upr.si/ provides instructions for remote access, which allows you to access articles and other resources that are normally only accessible from the University of Primorska network.
Wireless network - Eduroam
Eduroam (education roaming) is an international federation of wireless networks for users in education and research. Students, staff, educators, researchers, and other employees can use any Eduroam wireless network, in Slovenia or abroad.
The username and password are described in the section "Username and password".
To set up a connection, most devices require the installation of special software, which can be obtained from cat.eduroam.org. You can download the installation file for Windows and Linux and for Android and iOS mobile systems via this link.
Arnes AAI
The University of Primorska is a member of the Arnes AAI Federation, which gives students access to a wide range of services offered by Arnes and partner companies. Examples of services are VOX for web conferencing or filesender for easy sharing of large files over the web.
