At the University of Primorska Slovene language proficiency depends on the selected study programme.
As a rule, students’ language proficiency is not checked prior to application and enrolment. There are no limitations applied to candidates and students, who study in a foreign language.
However, foreign citizens enrolled in undergraduate and master study programmes of the University of Primorska, who study in Slovene language, must demonstrate the knowledge of the Slovene language at the basic level (at least at level A2) until their enrolment in the 2nd year of studies. In the case of enrolment in the higher year according to the criteria for transitions, this condition must be fulfilled until the enrolment in the next higher year.
*There are additional exceptions to this rule:
- foreign citizens who have completed elementary and/or secondary school in Slovenia or a secondary school with a Slovene language of study abroad or a bilingual secondary school abroad,
- foreign citizens who have completed previous studies conducted in the Slovene language.
In some undergraduate and master study programmes, foreign students must demonstrate knowledge of the Slovene language at a higher level by the end of their studies:
