Three Fora meeting: UP on its cooperation with society and industry
Within the presidency of the Republic of Slovenia of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative, a meeting of the Three Fora (also known as Joint Fora) was held, represented by the Association of Universities UniAdrion, the Association of Chambers of Commerce and the Association of Cities from the Adriatic-Ionian Region. The event, which was attended by almost 30 representatives of the countries involved in the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative, was moderated by Ambassador prof. dr. Milan Jazbec from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia. The meeting was an opportunity to review the achievements of integration reached so far and to prepare new proposals.
As prof. Jazbec said, there is a positive energy among all actors, which significantly contributes to the implementation of agreed activities between the regions. Branislav Rajić, Chairman of the Slovenian Parliamentary Commission for Economy, emphasized the importance of and good cooperation between the National Assembly and the government in implementing macro-regional strategies, adding that Slovenia would organize a conference of parliamentary presidents in March 2021.
The Secretary General of UniAdrion, chaired by the University of Primorska, prof. Andrea Perna, emphasized the role of UniAdrion in this environment. Rector of the University of Primorska, prof. dr. Klavdija Kutnar pointed out that membership in UniAdrion enables additional connections with universities from the Adriatic-Ionian region, mainly through various types of projects.
She presented the cooperation of the University of Primorska with the local economy and beyond and the importance of active involvement in the environment. Together with experts from practice, we are looking for new solutions that will help ensure that economic development continues to be sustainable and environmentally responsible. We provide our students with practical education or training in various companies and public institutions. In this way, students acquire additional knowledge, competencies and skills. We also enable them to do so by including the visits of established experts from practice within individual subjects, who present students with key challenges from practice and help them in their study within the framework of seminars and final assignments.
An important contribution to the inclusion of students in the world of business is also represented by the projects On the Creative Path to Practical Knowledge of the Public Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for Human Resources Development and scholarships, which aim to promote strengthening cooperation and connecting the University with the environment. As an outstanding achievement of our University, which is the result of cooperation with renowned foreign research and economic institutions, she highlighted the InnoRenew CoE Center of Excellence, which covers the field of renewable materials and a healthy living environment.
Ida Simonella, Secretary General of the Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Cities, emphasized the importance of the community and youth in achieving the European Commission's goals and designing new projects. Gino Sabatini, President of the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce, proposed that the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce be included in the association.
The CEO of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Primroska, Robert Rakar, confirmed the importance of cooperation between the economies of the macroeconomic region, education and politics. He presented the importance of the Port of Koper for the economy of the Obalno-kraška region and good cooperation with the University of Primorska. Despite the crisis, they want to establish new markets and increase the collaboration with other countries.
