THE AMBASSADOR OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION TO SLOVENIA, HE. T. R. EYVAZOV SUPPORTS JOINT STUDY AND RESEARCH PROGRAMS UPON HIS VISIT TO UP
The University of Primorska had the honour today to host the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Slovenia. His Excellency Timur Rafailovich Ejvazov expressed his support for joint research and study projects carried out by the University of Primorska in partnership with Russian universities.
International cooperation in research as well as study programs of the University of Primorska have developed greatly in recent years, as the university engages in research and study partnerships with multiple universities around the world, including some in the Russian Federation. The rector of UP, Prof. Klavdija Kutnar, pointed out that the University of Primorska is steadily increasing its offer of international study programs conducted in English, as well as its share of foreign students - fulfilling the strategic goal of the university to become an internationally recognized and embedded study and research centre. UP also places great emphasis on international cooperation in the field of research in its further development strategy, aiming to attract more foreign researchers and scientists to the region. In this light, Prof. Kutnar expressed her wish for increased cooperation within the joint study project of the University of Primorska and the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
During their conversation, Ambassador Timur Rafailovič Ejvazov voiced his satisfaction with the successful Slovenian-Russian cooperation within the Lomonosov University and the University of Primorska, emphasizing that there is also great interest on the part of the Russian state to further strengthen this cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by Ante Levaj, Secretary General of the Council of Economic Trustees of the Lomonosov Institute, Prof. Matjaž Novak, Dean of the Faculty of Management, within which the joint Slovenian-Russian study program takes place, and Prof. Dragan Marušič, who as the rector of the University of Primorska was one of the initiators of the creation of a parallel study program valid in both countries.
Representatives of the University of Primorska also informed the highly esteemed guests about the organizational preparations for the European Congress of Mathematics, which will be held in June 2021 in Portorož, organized by the University of Primorska and attended by a strong mathematical community from Russia.
