- How are we helping
The University of Primorska and its staff earnestly and proactively help to mitigate the spread of the disease COVID-19 with different initiative and activities:
In cooperation with General Hospital Izola and Technological park Ljubljana, we are printing protective masks on our 3D printers. First prototypes have already been delivered to the hospital for testing.
At the university we are printing the masks, which are compatible with microbiological filtres used in hospitals. The model of the filter, that served as a basis for the mask, is certified to be 99.99% effective in guaranteeing protection. Masks are intended for multiple use, they are made out of PLA material and we make them in two sizes (male and female).
Mask are made in line with the initiative zascitimo.si.
We provided the infrastructure under the project Ustavimo korono.
We offer free use of videoconference system JITSI, which has been developed our colleagues to elementary schools, high schools and other organisations. They do not have to register, send any personal data and we do not impose any limitations on these organisations.
The infrastructure is offered together with the paretner coincodex and project is supported also by Institute Jožef Stefan, UNESCO IRCAI and biokoda.
Multiple school on the Coastline and mainland Slovenia use JITSI.
We support and stimulate the volunteering work of our staff and students in the units of civil protection, in hospitals, nursing homes and other social welfare institutions, in offering child care for parents who have to work and in many other situations, where they offer their time to guarantee that our society continues to function.
