Orientation days 2024 at UP
The Fall Orientation Days are the prelude to the start of studies at the UP in October. They are aimed at both regular international students and students who come to UP as part of an international exchange program (Welcome UP page). They always follow the so-called Preparatory Days, which used to take place online. During the Preparatory Days, UP helps students from afar with the application process, informs them about mobility opportunities, and about life on the Slovenian Coast.
Orientation days are an opportunity for students to get to know each other personally, both at UP and among themselves, to get to know their new surroundings and the new people who will be part of their student life.
This year, the orientation days were attended by more than 260 full-time and Erasmus+ exchange students, mainly from European countries such as Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain, Poland, Portugal, France, North Macedonia, Serbia, and others.
The foreign students were welcomed at the Koper Taverna by the Vice Rector for Internationalisation, Prof. Dr. Michael Mrissa, the President of the Student Council, Lana Erjavec, the President of ESN Primorska, Emilija Toth, and the Vice-Mayor of the Municipality of Koper, Mateja Hrvatin Kozlovič.
Then, in small groups, they learned the most important information about the UP, the environment, and their studies, including the organization of forms and documents for the administrative unit. During the treasure hunt in Koper, they visited traditionally important points (the administrative unit, ŠOUP, the health center, and others), accompanied by student tutors as well as representatives of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN Primorska), who offered a wide range of social activities.
Some students will also go on two Saturday trips organised by SportUP and the International Offices: a trip to Sočerga and a trip to the Škocjan Caves.
