The University of Primorska and the University of Trieste Announce a Joint Call for Applications for Visiting Professorship for the Academic Years 2024/2025 and 2025/2026
The Transform4Europe European University has set itself the goal to educate and train knowledge-entrepreneurs as drivers of transformation for the benefit of sustainable and resilient European societies that can embrace and solve the most important civilisation challenges.
Within the framework of the European Project Transform4europe: the European University for knowledge entrepreneurs the University of Primorska (SLO) and the University of Trieste (IT) launch a joint international Call for the selection of full, associate, assistant and emeritus professors (or individuals with equivalent positions in foreign research Institutions) belonging to foreign Institutions located outside the T4EU Alliance for a visiting professorship.
This Call is addressed to the departments/faculties of both Universities interested in inviting scholars with a view to expanding the range of their educational activities within the department and with the aim of enhancing the Universities’ international profile.
During his/her visiting professorship, the recipient will deliver lectures within the Universities’ bachelor's, master’s, specialisation or doctoral degree courses.

- Visiting professorships may be taken up during the second semester of the academic year 2024-2025 or during the academic year 2025-2026 and must be concluded by 31st July 2026.
- A visiting professorship can last from 20 days (10 days at each university) to 5 months (2.5 months at each university), depending on the programme. The time spent at each university is split equally (e.g. 1 month at UNITS and 1 month at UP).
- Visiting Professorship will be hosted by the corresponding Departments of the two Universities. These are:

Visiting Professorship should primarily address the following aspects:
- Digital transformation and smart regions;
- Environmental transformation and sustainability;
- Societal transformation, community building and inclusion.
During their visiting period, professors are required to carry out their teaching and research activities in compliance with regulations and academic calendar both of the University of Primorska and the University of Trieste.
On the basis of the available budget, the committee will allocate the number of professorships to be funded. The exact number depends on the proposed visit time and home country of the visiting professor. The total available budget for this call is EUR 30,000. If some funds are left after the selection process is concluded, another open call will follow with the remaining funds.
The funding will be split between the universities and follow national regulations of each country. For each Visiting professorship the University of Primoska will organise overseas travel, while the costs of stay (local travel, accommodation, daily allowance) will be provided by the hosting university(UP or UNITS).
Applications must be submitted jointly by each relevant Department/Faculty of each University (UP and UNITS). Departments/Faculties announce their proposal to their university.
Each Department may submit no more than two applications, indicating an order of priority.
Applications must be submitted by the University Departments through the form attached to this Call (Annex A). The form includes a plan of the visit, including a course work (planned lectures within specific subjects at each university) and is signed by the Head of the Department.
Along with Annex A, the Department/Faculty attaches:
- curriculum vitae of the Visiting Professor drawn up in English;
- a declaration of interest drawn up in English and signed by the candidate using the form in Annex B of this Call.
- a copy of a valid identity document of the Visiting Professor.
(In Italy: Pursuant to Article 18 (1)(b) and (c) of Italian Law No 240/2010 and subsequent amendments and additions, candidates are not eligible if, at the deadline for applications, they have up to a fourth degree of kinship by consanguinity or affinity with: a member of teaching staff within the host department, the Rector, the General Director or a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Trieste.)
- For UNITS only also: a copy of the minutes of the Departmental Board stating that the Department commits itself to host the Visiting Professor.
