This year, the University of Primorska is also organizing the UP Career Fair 2024, which will take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the atrium of the UP Rectorate (Titov trg 4, Koper / In case of bad weather, the fair will be held in the UP FAMNIT multi-purpose space (entrance from the Museum Square in Koper).
19 employers and organizations will present themselves at the UP Career Fair 2024. All participants have the opportunity to speak with their representatives and obtain information about vacant positions and the conditions for their occupation. They will also find out what personnel they will need in the following years, with what skills and competencies.
In order to make a meeting with employers easier, the EMPLOYMENT CAFÉ is organized in the framework in which employers present their activities, staffing needs and opportunities for participation in the form of study practice, internships, employment opportunities, participation in projects and employment opportunities. In the application, you can select any number of employers you want to talk to.

As part of the fair, we will also organize a seminar on Employment opportunities in Europe from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Snatori's meeting room in the foyer of the Rectorate of the University, during which Mateja Grajzer, a EURES consultant, will present to us where and how you can find work in European countries.

Since its foundation, PiNA has opened a space for meeting, informing, exchanging, connecting and cooperating in the field of social challenges. Initially as the first internet cafe in Slovenia in 1998, and until 2016 as a multimedia and youth centre, a member of the network of EUROPE DIRECT Slovenia points, as a meeting point for non-governmental organizations of the coastal-karst region, and from 2022 as a contact point for the Citizens, Equality, Rights and values (CERV) and an organization working in the public interest in the field of culture, youth and international development cooperation.
At the fair, information will be offered about opportunities for young people in the EU and the possibility of doing an internship or volunteering at PiNA.
Youth network No Excuse Slovenia is a national youth organization in the public interest with a unique value system, active involvement in solving social problems and a long-standing practice of excellence in the field of implementation of competency models for young people, which are integrated holistically into the interdisciplinary "No Excuse Method". It focuses on the field of health and the environment.
The organization operates on two levels:
- develops the personal competencies of young people and their potential and
- transfers the necessary knowledge, experience and skills through the implementation of effective, long-term programs aimed at reducing health inequalities, increasing health and environmental literacy and promoting active citizenship.
They also work within several different work groups, from children to young people and educational workers and in different environments.
They will present to the young people the opportunity to participate in preventive work, project management and. implementation and preparation of educational programs or activities.
The Škocjan Caves are the first monument in Slovenia and on the classical Karst, entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This places them in a place of honour among the natural monuments of the world. They are included in the list of globally important wetlands of the Ramsar Convention, as the first underground wetlands in the world. Together with the underground course of the river Reka, they are one of the longest karst underground wetlands in Europe. The Škocjan caves are part of the MAB program. Man and the Biosphere (MAB) is a UNESCO intergovernmental research program that establishes a global network of biosphere reserves where biological diversity is preserved and sustainable development is promoted.
There are only 19 areas in the world that are simultaneously on the World Heritage List, on the Ramsar List of Internationally Important Wetlands and in the MAB program. Among them is the Škocjan Cave Park.

The Adult Education Centre of Koper is the largest educational and counselling centre for adults in the Coastal-Karst region. Adults can complete primary and secondary education at the Adult Education Centre of Koper, attend numerous courses and workshops, seek career or education advice, and receive support for independent learning. As part of the Career Fair UP 2024, the EURES Network will also hold a seminar on the topic of employment opportunities in the EU, which will take place in the Santori meeting room of the UP Rectorate, on the day of the fair (15 May 2024), between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The Sežana Hospital is a special hospital for the treatment and rehabilitation of chronic lung patients and extended general hospital treatment with/and rehabilitation and medical care. The activities of the hospital are:
- hospital medical activity, which includes diagnostics, treatment, medical rehabilitation and nursing;
- prolonged general hospital treatment with rehabilitation and other accompanying activities specialist - hospital activities;
- specialist outpatient and specialist hospital activities in the field of treatment and rehabilitation of chronic lung patients;
- dialysis activity;
- other medical activities: laboratory, x-ray, physiotherapy, hospital pharmacy.
The hospital is also an educational institution, for part of the specialization (9) months for doctors of internal medicine (in the first phase of specialization, and 6 (out of 12 possible months) as an elective course in the last phase of specialization, for students of colleges and faculties of health care, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, secondary health schools and other professional profiles, which are enabled to carry out clinical practice, internships or work training by being appointed as a mentor.
At the fair, they will present the needs for the recruitment of medical staff: nursing technician/nurse, registered nurse and paramedic/nursing.
The career path system in the Slovenian Army is based on a competency model, and if you get a job in the army, this guarantees you the necessary education, training and acquisition of military-professional knowledge for advancement, which is the same for everyone. It depends on the evaluation of the performance of the obtained military professional and general school education and operational work experience in various duties. Any member of the Slovenian Armed Forces who meets the prescribed conditions can advance. As part of the Postanivojak.si campaign, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Slovenia will present job opportunities within the Slovenian army, career advancement systems and various occupations offered by the army at the Career Fair UP 2024.
The Slovenian Army offers financial support to many students already during their education in the form of scholarships. They are awarded on the basis of a public competition, which the Ministry of Defense publishes on its website or the website of the ministry responsible for public administration, as well as in other means of public communication and information at least 60 days before the start of the school year.
Mjob is an intermediary between an employer and a pupil or student. They allow students to monitor the offer of current student jobs, get contact information for applying for a job and order a referral. They are also an intermediate link in the payment of student work, as employers forward them payment invoices based on the issued referrals, and they make sure that the payment for the work done is in the student's bank account.
The University of Primorska will also present itself at the fair, and its HR representatives will explain a little more about the current vacancies and tell what the needs for personnel will be in the following years.
